MRED IDX for your real estate website

Regional MLS

MRED, Midwest Real Estate Data, is the MLS behind connectMLS for the Chicago area and beyond. Listify IDX can show its listings in a map and list search on the website you already have.

In short

Listify IDX can show MRED listings on your own website, with a map, filters, and a page for every listing. MRED delivers IDX data only through MLS Grid, where your broker or you accept the data license online and MRED approves it. Once you sign up, we set up the connection with you and follow the MLS Grid display rules MRED uses.

How the MRED connection works

MRED (Midwest Real Estate Data) is the MLS many Chicago-area agents know through connectMLS, its MLS system. Its rules cover the territory of its member associations in Illinois and Iowa, and in 2026 it launched in Iowa with Quad City Area REALTORS. MRED also has a data share with RMLS Alliance in the Peoria area.

MRED delivers IDX data only through MLS Grid, a RESO Web API platform that MRED helped found and was the first MLS to launch. Both MRED and MLS Grid hold current RESO certification. MRED says more than 5,000 websites get its listings through MLS Grid.

MRED’s rules hand IDX display over to the MLS Grid IDX Rules, so the same rules apply to your site as to every other MRED IDX site.

How to get connected

  1. Your vendor registers at MLS Grid. MRED’s IDX and VOW page says IDX requests start at MLS Grid, for MRED brokerages, managing brokers, brokers, and the vendors they work with.
  2. You or your broker accept the data license. The license is accepted online in MLS Grid, then MRED reviews and approves it.
  3. MLS Grid issues access. Once MRED approves, MLS Grid opens the feed for your website.

Once you sign up, we set up the MRED connection with you. MRED handles its data access approval, and we handle the rest.

MRED may charge its own MLS data fees for access to your listing data, and MLS Grid collects any license fee MRED requires. Those fees are set by MRED, are separate from your Listify IDX subscription, and are paid by you. We never mark them up. See our Terms of Use.

What visitors see on your website

The MLS Grid IDX Rules that MRED uses decide what each listing shows:

  • Listing brokerage, listing number, contact, and status on each listing. Sold listings also name the cooperating brokerage, or note that properties may be listed or sold by various MLS participants.
  • MLS Grid as the source, with a line such as “Listings courtesy of MRED as distributed by MLS GRID” and an MLS Grid logo on the first page of results, plus a “Based on information submitted to the MLS GRID” notice with the date.
  • No excluding brokerages. MRED doesn’t let IDX sites leave out listings because of who listed them. A site that narrows results by other criteria must say “Some listings have been excluded from this website.”
  • Private and held listings stay off. Listings marked private, listings on hold, and listings a seller has opted out aren’t on IDX, and confidential fields never appear.

We set up your search to meet these rules when we connect your feed.

What you need

  • An MRED subscription, as a broker or an agent your managing broker authorizes.
  • An MLS Grid data license, accepted by you or your broker and approved by MRED.
  • A website where you can add your own code. Any website builder with a code embed or custom HTML block works.
  • A Listify IDX account on the Plus plan or higher, which includes MLS feeds.

Works on the website you already have

Listify IDX adds property search to the website you have now. You or your web team copy and paste a single piece of code, called an embed code, into the page, and the search appears there. See the steps for Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, Showit, or any other website.

FAQ

Using MRED with Listify IDX

At MLS Grid. MRED sends every IDX request through MLS Grid, the data platform it helped launch. Your vendor registers there, you or your broker accept the data license online, and MRED approves it.

No. Since October 2025, MRED doesn't allow IDX sites to exclude listings based on the brokerage or agent. You can still narrow by things like location or price, and then the site must say "Some listings have been excluded from this website."

Listings marked private aren't part of MRED's IDX program, and neither are listings a seller has opted out of internet display. MRED says its IDX program still covers about 99.5 percent of companies and listings.

MLS Grid collects any license fee MRED requires, and vendors pay the applicable MLS licensing fees. MLS data fees like these are set by MRED, are separate from your Listify IDX subscription, and are paid by you. We never mark them up. See our Terms of Use.
