Embeddable IDX Search

Embeddable IDX Search for the Website You Already Own

Your website can do more than introduce your business. Copy and paste a single piece of code, called an embed code, and Listify IDX lets buyers search MLS listings and explore each property on the site they're already visiting.

You already have the website. Add listing search.

Embeddable IDX adds property search to a website you already have. Listify IDX is built for real estate agents and offices that run their own site on a website builder, or have a web team that runs it for them, and want buyers to browse listings on their own website. You or your web team add one embed code, and the search experience shows up on your page.

Keep the pages you've invested in and put the search where it helps visitors take the next step, whether they're arriving from a neighborhood guide or looking for homes from your homepage.

What you add to your website

Paste the embed code on the page where you want the search to appear. It's two short lines: the first loads Listify IDX, and the second marks the spot where the search shows up.

<script
  src="https://embed.listify.dev"
  type="module"
  data-embed-id="your-embed-id"
></script>
<listify-search></listify-search>

When a buyer visits, the search loads on that page. They can browse the map and filter results, then open a property for more details. Each listing has its own link on your website that they can share.

Once your account is approved, copy your embed code from your Listify dashboard.

Advanced loading for busy sites. As a site adds more tools, like chat, analytics, and booking widgets, each one can slow its pages down. Listify IDX supports an advanced loading setup by adjusting how parts of the embed code are installed on the page, a standard approach for sites with lots of added features, so your page's own text and images load first and the search fills in right after. Many IDX providers instead use a single script that often makes the whole page wait until it finishes loading. Contact support for more info or assistance installing.

Setup guides by website builder

  • IDX for Webflow: paste your embed code into a code embed box, for agents and offices who built their site in Webflow.
  • IDX for Squarespace: paste your embed code into a code block on any page of your Squarespace template.
  • IDX for Wix: add your embed code through Wix's custom code settings instead of the cramped embed HTML box, with two ways to set it up.
  • IDX for WordPress: paste your embed code into a custom HTML block instead of installing a plugin, on WordPress.org or WordPress.com.
  • Custom-built sites: see below.

Some builders only let you add code on paid or higher plans; each guide above lists what its builder needs.

IDX without iframes

An iframe is a frame that shows a separate web page inside your page. That can leave buyers scrolling a box within your website, especially on a phone. Search engines also treat what's inside the frame as a separate page.

Listify IDX shows listings right on your page. Buyers can follow a link to a specific property on your website, and search engines can treat each listing page as part of your site.

Each listing page gets its own title, description and main web address (its canonical URL), plus real estate details in a standard format search engines read (schema.org RealEstateListing data). That gives search engines property-specific information and helps your website get credit for its listings.

Have a custom-built website?

Listify IDX generally works on sites built with any framework, including React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte and Astro. Your developer adds the embed code to the page where the search should appear, and there's no need to rebuild the site around a particular system.

Check that your site lets your developer add code to a page. If you're planning a redesign, share these requirements with your developer before choosing where to put the search.

Check these requirements first

You'll need a website builder and plan that let you paste your own code into a page, plus a Listify IDX account. Some website builders only allow added code on higher plans.

You also need a listing data source. Listings come from the data sources you connect: listing platforms we already integrate with, MLS feeds (including standard RESO Web API feeds), or your own custom API. Contact support with specific questions about data sources and integration.

Keep the tools that run the rest of your business

Listify IDX adds property search. Your website builder keeps hosting your website, and your CRM (contact management) tool stays the place you manage contacts. Listify IDX doesn't host websites or include a CRM; it sends visitor inquiries to you for follow-up.
