IDX for Showit

Add MLS & IDX Property Search to Your Showit Website

You picked Showit because your website should look like you. Now give buyers a way to search homes on it: you or your web designer copy and paste a single piece of code, called an embed code, into a Showit page, and Listify IDX adds MLS property search to your design. There's no Showit IDX plugin to hunt for, because you don't need one.

Home search inside the site you designed

Showit lets you place every photo and headline exactly where you want it, and it's popular with agents. A home search should feel like part of that design, not a trip to some other website.

Listify IDX adds MLS property search for real estate agents and offices. It goes on a Showit page you already have, or a new one like "Search Homes", and buyers browse listings without leaving your site.

Why there's no plugin to install

You design your pages in Showit's design app, and Showit runs your blog on WordPress. That's where the plugin confusion comes from. A WordPress IDX plugin (an add-on) would only reach the blog side, and Showit only allows custom plugins on its Advanced Blog hosting.

Listify IDX doesn't need any of that. The embed code goes into Showit's embed code element on a regular Showit page, and it works the same whichever blog plan you have. There's nothing to keep updated, and you're always using the latest version of Listify.

What visitors see on your search page

Visitors can search listings, filter by what matters to them, and explore the map. Opening a property shows its photos and details, with a link they can save or text to someone else.

The search sits right on your page, instead of inside a frame with its own scroll bar. Every listing gets its own page on your website that Google can find. Learn how this helps your site show up in search.

How to add Listify IDX to Showit

  1. Once your account is approved, copy your embed code from your Listify dashboard.
  2. In the Showit design app, open the page where you want the search. Choose a canvas that's always visible, because Showit says embed codes may not display properly on hidden canvases.
  3. Hover over the Element icon in the Bottom Toolbar and choose Embed Code. A black box appears on your canvas.
  4. With the box selected, open the Embed Info tab in the Properties Panel, click the Custom Code box, paste your embed code, and click Save. Don't use the iFrame URL field in the same tab: it puts another website inside a frame on your page, which is what Listify IDX is built to avoid.
  5. Drag the box to the full width of the canvas and make it tall enough for the map and listings. Make the canvas taller if you need more room. For exact numbers, use the Width and Height fields in the Size & Position tab.
  6. Click the Mobile icon in the Bottom Toolbar and size the box for phones too.
  7. Publish your site, then open the live page on a computer and on a phone to check the search.

Your embed code looks like this, with your own ID in it:

<script
  src="https://embed.listify.dev"
  type="module"
  data-embed-id="your-embed-id"
></script>
<listify-search></listify-search>

What you need

You need a published Showit site, a Listify IDX account, and a listing data source. Listings come from the data sources you connect: listing platforms we already integrate with, MLS feeds (including standard RESO Web API feeds), or your own custom API. Contact support with specific questions about data sources and integration.

Room for big photos

Showit sites tend to lean on photography, and the search keeps up. Property pages show large photos and full-screen galleries, with virtual tours when available. Grouped map pins help buyers spot several homes in the same building. Listify IDX Plus and higher plans add your own branding and highlighted new and featured listings.

If you redesign on another builder

Listify IDX also works on Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, and WordPress, as well as custom-built sites. If you ever move off Showit, the same embed code goes on your new site.

Showit still runs the rest of your site

Listify IDX adds property search. It doesn't host websites or replace Showit's design tools, and it doesn't include a CRM (contact management) tool yet. Inquiries come to you by email, or go straight into the listing platform or CRM you already use, when it has an API we can connect to.

FAQ

Questions before you edit your Showit page

No. Listify IDX goes on Showit through its embed code element: you paste your Listify IDX embed code into it. Showit's blog runs on WordPress, but a WordPress IDX plugin would only work on the blog side, and Showit only allows custom plugins on its Advanced Blog hosting. Listify IDX skips all of that, so there's no plugin to install or keep updated.

To add IDX to Showit, paste your Listify IDX embed code into an embed code element on the canvas where you want the search, give the box enough room for the map and listings on desktop and mobile, and publish. The step-by-step guide below walks through it.

Make the embed code box bigger. Showit shows your code at the size of the box, so drag it to the full width of the canvas and make it taller, and make the canvas taller if the box needs more room. Then check the desktop and mobile views, since Showit sizes them separately.

No, the same embed code serves both. The search adjusts to fit any screen, but Showit lets you size and place each element separately on desktop and mobile, so switch to the mobile view and give the embed code box room there too.

If you're comfortable adding elements to a Showit canvas, yes. It takes a few minutes. If a designer built your Showit site, they can add the embed code for you, and you can contact support if either of you needs help.
