Listify IDX vs other IDX providers

Listify IDX adds MLS and IDX property search to the website you already own: you or your web team paste a single piece of code on your page and property search features appear instantly. It supports virtually any site, including Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, and custom sites. Many other IDX providers still rely on older methods: a frame that shows their website inside yours (an iframe), search pages they host at a separate address, or a plugin that only works on one website builder.

  • Consider Listify IDX if you want a beautiful state-of-the-art listing search experience on your own pages, simply by copying and pasting one piece of code onto your existing site, with nothing to keep updated, at a competitive price.
  • Consider a bundled IDX provider if you don't have a website yet, want the same company to host it and run your CRM, and don't mind that leaving later typically means moving all of it.

Three common ways IDX gets onto your website

Most IDX products use one of a few older methods, and some offer more than one. An iframe is a frame that shows the provider's search page inside a box on yours. Hosted pages live on the provider's servers, at its own address or at one like search.yoursite.com, and your site sends visitors out to them. Plugins are add-ons for one website builder, usually WordPress, that run on your website's hosting.

Listify IDX is built on modern web standards that every browser already understands. You or your web team paste in one embed code, and the search becomes part of your own page.

IDX without iframes

An iframe is a page inside your page. Buyers often get a second scroll bar and a search box that doesn't fit the width of your layout. Depending on how the provider sets it up, Google may count the listings toward the provider's website instead of yours.

Listify IDX avoids those problems. The search scrolls with your page, fits phones, tablets, and computers, and gives every listing its own URL on your website that Google can find. Read the details in IDX without iframes.

Your site, your web address, no lock-in

Hosted IDX pages and hosted websites are convenient until you want to leave. When the provider hosts your listing pages, those links live on its servers. When it also hosts your whole website, this vendor-locking setup typically means leaving requires a full migration to another platform or rebuilding an entirely new website and search integration.

Listify IDX doesn't host anything of yours. Your site, your hosting, your web address, and your design stay in your hands. If you ever cancel, you simply delete the Listify embed code and the rest of your site stays as it is.

No plugin tying you to one website builder

A plugin only works on the website builder it was made for, and it needs updating along with that builder and your other plugins. Listify IDX uses the same embed code anywhere across the modern web. If you switch builders, the search comes with you, and as Listify regularly releases new features and updates, they show up on your site automatically.

Pages that don't wait on your IDX

Many IDX providers use a single script that often makes the whole page wait until it finishes loading, which can leave visitors looking at a blank or half-loaded page. Listify IDX supports an advanced loading setup by adjusting how parts of the embed code are installed on your site, a standard approach for sites with lots of added tools, so your own content appears first and the search fills in right after. You'll always be using the latest version of Listify's platform as it's updated regularly.Iframe: shows the provider's page in a box on yours. Hosted pages: your site sends visitors to pages the provider runs. Plugin: an add-on installed into one website builder.

PricingPublished prices, from $49/mo on the Basic plan. Free to try, no contract.Often several plan tiers with setup fees and paid add-ons, or a quote on a sales call.

Many providers offer more than one of these methods, often on different plan tiers, so check how the plan you're considering actually works on your site.

Pricing

IDX pricing is often hard to pin down. Many providers sell several plan tiers with a one-time setup fee and paid add-ons, and some don't publish prices at all and quote them on a sales call. Listify IDX publishes its plans and pricing, from $49/mo. It's free to try with no credit card, and there's no contract.

Ask any IDX provider the hard questions

  • Do visitors stay on my site, or do you send them to yours?
  • When a buyer opens a listing, does the web address still show my website?
  • Does it work on my website builder today, and on one I might switch to?
  • What will I have to install and keep updated?
  • How easy is it to cancel and migrate away from your platform?
  • What is the full monthly or annual cost, including setup fees and feature add-ons, and can I see it without a sales call?
  • How often do you update your product to adapt to new devices and technologies, or in response to customer feedback?

Before you switch, contact Listify with where your listings are located and your website's URL.

If a web designer runs your site

Some agents and offices have a designer or developer look after their website. Listify IDX works for them too: they paste your embed code into the page and listings appear, with no frame, separate search site, or plugin to look after afterward.

Comparing a specific provider

When another provider is the better choice

Pick a bundled provider if you don't have a website yet and want your IDX company to build and host one, or if you need a CRM and email campaigns in the same product and are comfortable relying on one company for all of it.

What you need, and what Listify IDX doesn't replace

Listings come from the data sources you connect: listing platforms we already integrate with, MLS feeds (including standard RESO Web API feeds), or your own custom API. Contact support with specific questions about data sources and integration.

Once your account is approved, your embed code is in your Listify dashboard, ready for you or your web team. Listify IDX doesn't host websites or include a CRM (contact management) tool yet. Visitor inquiries come to you, and you follow up with the tools you already use. Read the product overview for features and what you need.

FAQ

Choosing between IDX providers

No. An iframe is a frame that shows another website inside a box on your page. Listify IDX sits right on your page instead, so the search scrolls with the page, fits your layout, and keeps each listing on your own website. Read more about IDX without iframes.

Two quick checks help. Open a listing and look at the web address at the top of your browser to see whether it's still your website. Then check whether the search scrolls on its own inside a box on the page. Either one usually means buyers are looking at the provider's website, not yours.

IDX that sits right on your own page. Listify IDX works this way on virtually any site, including Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, and custom-built sites. WordPress plugins can also put search on your pages, but they only work on WordPress and are one more plugin to keep updated.

Listify IDX loads without holding up the rest of your page. For sites with lots of added tools, it also supports an advanced loading setup, a standard approach that lets your own content appear first while the search fills in right after. Contact support for more info or help installing it.

No. Listify IDX goes on your site by pasting one embed code into a page. It works on WordPress and on virtually any other site, there's no plugin to install or keep updated, and you're always using the latest version of Listify.

If you don't have a website yet and want your IDX company to build and host one, or you need a CRM and email campaigns in the same product, a bundled provider covers more. Keep in mind that the more of the bundle you use, the harder it typically is to leave later.
